The greatest memories of my childhood are the ones of the yearly trip to Lake Powell.

To me Lake Powell is the most beautiful place on earth and the place to have the most fun.

It was so wonderful this summer to have my husband and kids go and enjoy my favorite place.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to go back every year so my kids can have the same great memories growing up as I did.

Cassidy had her debut on the big stage, which is all she could talk about for months.

This was Chelsea’s second year. They both did a great job.

The recital was in May it is just one of the many things I did not post while I was busy loving my new baby Courtney.

I got teary eyed when they read this poem at Chelsea‘s graduation. The anticipation of the person who she will become and the direction she will take in her life is killing me. As much as I don't want her to grow up I can't wait to find out the person she will grow up to be. I love you Chelsea!

I love the differences of theses pictures. On her first day of school she had such an excitement in her smile and could hardly wait for what was to come. On her last day picture she has such a sense of accomplishment in her eyes. She loved everything about kindergarten and is so looking forward to first grade

Winter Camping

I have been wanting to go camping at Ensign in the winter for a couple of years now. Thanks to Allison making the call, it finally happened.

There was a lite snow falling for most of the weekend. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

The girls went fishing for the first time. Cassidy lasted about 5 minutes. Chelsea loved it and can't wait to go fishing again.

We played by the river

We played hide and go seek in the grove of trees.

The sun did come out for one day, so we went for a beautiful walk around the lake.

Chelsea climbed in a hollow canopy of tree branches and large brush and made it her fort.

We had so much fun we are definitely going every year.

One tough cookie

My poor little girl. This whole thing started in October with just a swollen lymph node, no big deal right. Well, it did not go away so after about a month we took her to the doctor. It started looking like a bruise and then got red. Long story short, the stupid nodes lost the battle with a bacterial infection and needed to be removed.

We went in on March 18. They gave her some Loopy Juice to make her more comfortable. She was acting very silly, then started to be very tried and serious.

The surgery wasn't until 2:45 so trying explaining to a 3 year old why she can't eat all day. She begged and pleated with me for food. It was so hard to deny her. Her daddy promised her that for dinner she could have her favorite food, Mac & Cheese.

After the Surgery the doctor said that most patience who have this done have upset stomachs and don't want to eat for a while. Not my Cassidy she was asking for her Mac and Cheese right away, so daddy made it happen. She ate the entire thing in what seemed like seconds.

She had to have this drain tube in for several day. I thought for sure that it would slow her down and that she might not be up to much, but once again she proved us wrong. She was jumping off the couch and running around as normal.

She got bored fairly quickly. She kept herself entertained by pushing all the buttons. The bed went up and then down, up and then down.

After one of the most uncomfortable night sleeps I have ever had it was time for us to go home. Her wonderful sister gave her some gift to make her feel better.

This was one of the nastiest scars I have ever seen. Worse than Chris' chest scar after his heart surgery. Cassidy learned a new word from all of this, "Nasty." I would say it every time I changed the dressing. This is how it looked after a week when it started to look much better.

Over all, she was such a trooper and did not complain much. Once we got home we never had to give her the pain medication. She will be on two different kinds of antibiotic for 6 months to kill the bacteria.

Happy Valentines Day

It's really hard for me to describe in words how I felt this weekend.
I grew up wanting and knowing I would get married in the temple. I just had know idea it would happen like this. It took Patience, Understanding, Knowledge of the truth, Prayer, Love, Support of loving parents, sister Missionaries, seven Years, Compassion, Tears, Fear, and a whole lot of FAITH to get me and my family to this day.

I felt peaceful, yet exciting. Nervous but comforting. I felt love, joy, Gratitude, happiness like never before. It was an Amazing feeling, so many feelings at once.
I will never forget this day.

It snowed the day Chris proposed to me. It snowed on our wedding day in March in Seattle. It also snowed the morning of the sealing. How cool is that!

The girls were so excited for this day. They have been waiting for a year ever since Daddy got Baptized. After we took some picture, we said it is now time to go in. They went right to the doors and turn the knobs and said MOMMY it's lock.

Seven years ago in this very spot, Chris proposed to me. He knew how important it was to me and when he proposed he said, I know I can't take you in, but I wanted to get as close as I could.

Thank you Sisters for everything you did for us. You strengthened my testimony and Faith. We will be eternally grateful for you sharing a piece of you and your testimonies with us, THANK YOU. I am so grateful that all of you could be their on this special day. It made the day complete.

Every time the girls see a picture of the Salt Lake Temple they say with utmost excitement MOMMY I went in the temple. I hope they never forget this day.

Living in Utah for 12 years and visiting often in college I saw many brides standing on this cement block smiling taking picture on their sealing/wedding day. I often pictured myself one day standing with my husband. Well, I did stand on that block on my Sealing day, I just never picture myself in a sweatshirt and jeans. I might not have gone about it the way I always picture but I would not trade MY WAY for anything. I guess this pictures reflect the sweat, tears and hard work to get there. It was all worth it.

The cousins put up the trampling and it kept the kids busy for hours. Luckily we had great weather.

We spent a couple of day in Utah with family we went to Soldier Hollow in Provo Canyon to do some awesome sledding. I loved it because they have a tow-rope to pull you up the hill! Cassidy never got out of her tube.

It was the biggest hill I have ever been on.

Winter Sports

Now that Cassidy is 3 she was able to take the sports Sampler class. She had gone with me when Chelsea was in the class so she knew what to expect. Cassidy is a little shy with new things and warms up slowly. She loved the class and the staff was very helpful dealing with her hearing loss. It was hard for her to hear because of the loud music that was being played by the exercises class on the other side of the gym. They made sure she knew what was going on and gave her the little extra help she needed.

She really had a great time.

Chelsea wanted to just concentrate on Basketball this winter. We ran into some old video of me playing High School ball and that got her excited and wanted to play like her mommy.

BIG Birthday Suprise

We knew for about 5 months that we would be going to Disney World for Chelsea's Birthday. It was so hard keeping the excitement in and keeping it a secret. I was getting some things ready the day before her party and she asked me what I was doing. I said without thinking " I'm getting this ready for the trip". She then asked what trip? I actually had to lie to my daughter. I felt bad, but I was not about to ruin the surprise after keeping it secret for so long. We had a family birthday party in the evening of Sunday the 11th, we left Monday morning.

I think she was surprised and excited.

Magic Kindgom

We invited my mom and dad to come with us. It looks like they had a great time.

The girls loved the Animal Kingdom, they got wet, saw some animal and went on a really fast rides. Chelsea got distracted while we were walking and got lost for about 15 min. It was scary for a bit, but she was more upset then we were about the whole thing. She refused to let go of Chris' hand for awhile after getting lost.

We had a huge birthday surprise for Chelsea, she got transformed at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. She was transformed into a princess by a fair godmother in training. She was smiling ear to ear the whole time. She really enjoyed this, it's right up her ally.

Lunch inside the Castle

The girls were excited to actually go inside the castle and have lunch with all the princess.

While we were waiting for the parade to start Chris took Chelsea to ride space mountain. I wouldn't let her ride in her dress so she took it off. Cassidy really wanted to be a princess just like her sister, so she put on the dress and danced around. People were walking by and wishing Chelsea(Cassidy) a happy birthday. She would look at them funny thinking why is everyone calling me Chelsea. It was funny.

Even though we got home really late Chelsea really want to go swimming. It was a great way to top off her special day. Chelsea looks like she's smiling, but she was actually shivering like crazy. It was cold outside and the pool water was freezing. Not the 80 degrees the desk person said it was.

More Disney fun

Chelsea's favorite ride of the whole week was the tower of terror. She went on it over and over again and I was more then happy to go with her becaue it's my favorite ride.

Chris and grandpa were determined to eat one thing from around the world. They didn't quite make it as they started to get full. Here they are enjoying authentic German bratwurst.

Fun in the Sun

We had a day of just hanging out by the pool and on the beach. It was relaxing.

We could not get Chelsea off the water slide.

We stayed in at he Wilderness Campground Cabins and they have a campfire sing along fun with Chip and Dale.

The girls got really sticky eating smores.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to go on this trip. We had an amazing time.

Conference week in Utah

Chris and I were so grateful for the opportunity to attend conference. We had a great time just sitting and listening without interruptions. The spirit was strong and I was glad to be sitting next to my husband knowing how far he has come.

The girls spent the night with us in the Hotel. They loved looking out the window at the temple and the white fluffy beds.

Aunt JayLynn took out Cassidy's braids and this was the end result. She look so silly for a while. Her Great grandpa came over and he look at her and asked the question rather serious “Who does your hair” it was a funny moment.

We made lots of fun treats- Spiders, Ghosts and Carmel apples.

Aunt Mindy took us to see the play Beauty and the Beast. Chelsea was so scared of the beast that she jumped in my lap and was shaking every time the beast came on the stage. Luckily she knew the story and could anticipate when the beast would come out. She wouldn't even come close to him to take the picture at the end. Cassidy had no problem. She just stared at the beast as you can tell from the pic. She would not take her eyes off him like she trusted him as long as she knew where he was and what he was doing.

Released of Duty

Today I got up and shared my testimony in Church and released my dad from his duty. I've been so grateful that he's been worthy to hold the priesthood. He has given me countless blessing, has blessed my babies and much more. Thank you mom and dad for the great examples that you have been to me and my family. Chris was ordained an Elder today and now has the authority to give blessing and be the priesthood holder in our home. My dad gave this Priesthood Line of Authority to Chris; it's amazing when you look at it this way. -What a responsibility-

Chelsea and Cassidy love to sing. When you watch the video you will see Chelsea is a girly girl, ballet princess and then their is Cassidy. She is rock and roll all the way.

Cassidy calls a microphone a la la la. She can turn anything into a la la la. She has used turkey basters, her broccoli, spatulas, popsicle sticks and pens. You name it she uses it for a la la la. I thought I had see it all tell one day she can down the stairs with an unwrapped tampon as her la la la.

Chelsea was just three when she begged me to let her go up and sing in the ward Christmas talent show. I can't believe she did it. She loves to perform.

MOM! look what I can do

This is me Chelsea and I'm 4.5 years old. I checked out a book at the library about a girl who thought she had to learn how to tie her shoes before they would let her go to kindergarten. Ever since then I have been really worried that I have to learn how to tie my shoes or they won't let me go to kindergarten. Along with tying my shoes I for some reason think I have to be able to blow a bubble, not be afraid of bugs/frogs and write my name.

Even though I won't be going to kindergarten this September I have been working really hard to accomplish my goals. Here are just a few things I have checked off my kindergarten list.

Holding not one but three slimy, slippery, smelly frog CHECK-I don't have much of a choice with the frog thing since their are literally thousands jumping all around the outside of my house. We can't leave the door open or they try to get in. My dad even found one on the kitchen chair looking like he was ready to eat some lunch.

Chelsea and Mommy day

Last summer Chelsea and I had the whole day to spend together downtown. We dropped Daddy and Cassidy at KidsCentre and we hit the town. Chelsea and I had so much fun last year that she has been asking and asking when we get to do it again. So I decided to make it a yearly tradition. Chelsea calls it Chelsea and Mommy Day. We did the exact same thing as last year.

Since the school is so close to the waterfront we started by walking around and looking at all the boats.

After the waterfront we walked up to Pike Place Market. Chelsea loves listening to the different musician that play on the street. This year she picked the doughnut holes as her treat. I love looking at all the flowers and always thinks of my sister Jaylynn who is a florist, I've missed her since she moved to Utah. I think of her every time I see the market flowers.

After the market we walked up to the mall and took the Monorail to Seattle Center.

Since I wasn't blogging last year, I've included last years picture. I love seeing the difference a year makes and I'm excited and curious to see what she will look like next year.

When we got to the Seattle Center we went to the Children's Museums. She loved getting on the stage and putting on a show. After the Museum we got to do her favorite part of the day, going on the rides. This year she was tall enough to ride my favorite ride, the PIRATE SHIP. When I was growing up we would go to lagoon and my fondest memory of the rides is the pirate ship. I have loved it since childhood. I loved that dropping tickle feeling. It was soooo cool to see my little girl giggling with excitement and that smile WOW, she loved it just as much as I did. We were the only ones on the ride and with no one in line the operator let us go a bit longer. I think he was enjoying her reaction and giggles as well.

Last year and this year on the Ferris wheel.

Unfortunately this year the center fountain was closed for cleaning so we were unable to play in the water like last year. Luckily Seattle has lots of other places to get wet.

We end the day back at the waterfront for ice cream and prepared to go tell daddy all about the fun we have had.

Even though Chelsea spends lots of time downtown at the waterfront and the market with her class; it's special to her to show me all the sites and to spend alone time with her favorite mommy. Next year Cassidy will be be three; that means I will have a Cassidy and Mommy day and a Chelsea and Mommy day in Seattle. I'm so excited to start the tradition with Cassidy as well.

A successful surgery

On July 16th Chris had a ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) put on his heart. Due to his heart condition (cardiomyopathy) he's at a high risk of heart failure. If his heart does stop the ICD will shock it. This is a very good thing to have and is a great safety net if his heart does stop.

A few months ago Chris was referred by his cardiologist to another heart specialist because his heart pumping efficiency rate has been dropping. The heart specialist did some test and discovered that Chris had a heart attack the day after his surgery two years ago and that 25% of his heart is dead. His pumping efficiency rate is low enough to put him in a severe danger category. The good news is that he’s not having any symptoms. Most people in the severe category can't even walk down the street without becoming out of breath. Chris can ride his bike for 10 miles stints at a time and is jogging. The doctors have never seen this before, his body had obviously adjusted very well and we are hoping it will continue to adjust. It’s just a waiting game at this point. We are hoping that with all the medication things will stabilize and he will get to keep his heart for a long time before needing a heart transplant.

Chelsea was only 2 years old and doesn’t really remember when Chris had his first surgery. When I did bring the girls up to see their dad it was very scary for a two year old, seeing her dad hooked up to so many machines and being so weak and not being able to hold her.
She has now become a pro. About 6 months ago when her Grandma had almost the same heart surgery, Chelsea would go visit her everyday after school since it was just down the street. Grandma Hineman stayed with us during her recovery, so Chelsea learned a lot and was a big help.
Chelsea was not scared this time around seeing her daddy in the hospital bed. Cassidy was a different story.

Cassidy is now 2 and had a hard time at the hospital and was a quite scared. It was a much different surgery and a lot less complicated but it still took her a long time to go give her daddy a kiss. She would not sit on his lap and had a hard time looking at him. She has not been herself ever since the surgery and has been very emotional. Dad can’t pick her up and snuggle her quite yet. Chris is recovering nicely and will be back playing around with the girls in no time.

4th of July at the Beach

Every year my family goes camping at the beach for the 4th of July. This year all of my sisters were able to come. Mindy, Jaylynn, and Brandy. That means a lot of cousins to play with.

Look at the cute tee shirts grandma made for everyone. They say Grandmas favorite grandchild. This year it was all about keeping the kids busy and out of trouble. We had lots of activities planned.

Once again like our last campout I couldn’t keep Chelsea out of the trees. At least it kept her busy.

They went on a treasure hunt and followed the clues to the beach and then they had to dig up the treasure.

The town 4th celebration had train rides, bouncy toys, face painting and much more for the kids.

And of course we played at the beach in the water and built sand castles.

We never go to the beach without uncle Jacob trying to bury us in the sand.

Every June 1st Chris and I celebrate LIFE .

This is the 2 year anniversary of his open heart surgery.

2 years ago Chris had open heart surgery to fix his heart.
The day after surgery he had a hard time and almost didn't make it.
An experience like this really make you appreciate life and the people you love.

On the first year anniversary we went sailing. Unfortunately this year due to busy schedules we could not squeeze in sailing but maybe next year.

Family Vacation to San Diego

We finally had a family vacation. We went down to the beautiful San Diego. We spent 6 days and had a WONDERFUL time.

Day 2

Chris and Julie took us around town to see some of the sights of San Diego.
We went to Balboa Park, San Diego Temple, and the Beach.

Balboa Park - the nation's largest urban cultural park. Home to 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the San Diego Zoo, the Park has an ever-changing calendar of museum exhibitions, plays, musicals, concerts, and classes—all in the beautiful and timeless setting of this must-see San Diego attraction.

Day 3

Day 3 was Mothers Day. We went to the Bay for the day and played in the water.

Day 4 was all about the animals. We spent all day at the San Diego Zoo. By far the best zoo I've ever been to.

The first animal we saw when we walked through the gate was a peacock walking around the gift shop. Chelsea favorite animal of the day was that beautiful peacock.

Day 5

We saved the best for last, today was Sea World and the kids and I favorite day. The first things Chelsea and I did was go and get wet on the ride Journey to Atlantis. Chelsea was just tall enough and really excited to try it. She had so much fun that she wanted to go again and again, this time she dragged her dad along for the ride.

We saw the Shamu show and we sat in the splash zone and got really wet, the girls thought that was great. Cassidy really like the dolphin show and the sharks. When Chelsea is asked what her favorite part was of course she says the RIDES.

After the Shamu Show we got to do something really cool and that was to Dine With Shamu. We were able to eat lunch up close and personal with the whales. Just watch the video and see just how close our table was to the whale. We could have reached out and touch him and believe me Cassidy tried.

Basketball Video

I have been anxiously awaiting Chelsea to be old enough so I could sign her up to play sports. Her first class was a sports sampler. She did 3 week of Soccer, 3 week of Tee-ball and finally my favorite 3 week of Basketball.

Chelsea has her game face on. Boys don't mess with me

I told her the same thing my coach told me. Your butt is good for two things-
-for boys to look at--
and to box out--

She loved basketball so much that we signed her up for
just a basketball class.

I had so much fun watching her play basketball :)
